Winners of Filipina Explorer’s 1st Bloggersary Contest!

The contest period is now over for Filipina Explorer’s First Bloggersary Contest and it’s time to declare the winners!


But, before we get to the meat, I’d like to thank everyone who showed their full support for the contest and joined! I received really incredible entries, all of which deserve much applause. It was a great experience reading your travel insights and enthusiasm for our country’s hotspots.



Entries were narrowed down to the top six and were computed based on the following criteria (5 being the highest score for each, and 0 as the lowest):


1. Creativity 
2. Substance and Content
3. Adherence to the Theme (“What’s your favorite travel destination and why?”)
4. Originality
5. Sharing and Promotion of the contest via other media, which includes the following:

Ø      FB wall post = 1 point

Ø      Google Friend Connect = 1 point

Ø      Networked Blogs = 1 point

Ø  Contestant’s own Blog = 1 point

Ø   Liking Filipina Explorer’s fan page  = 1 point

In order to be more objective, I sought the help of three people to help me in judging the entries (a teacher, a nurse, and an entrepreneur, all of which travel at least on a yearly basis). We all made our separate verdicts based on the above criteria, scores were computer for the overall average, and thus, we have the grand prize, and two runners up.

And so, with no further ado, I’d like to congratulate Don Eleazar Balboa, Jr. for winning the grand prize, that is 2 entrance tickets to Splash Island Resort in Laguna

AND 

Ricalyn Sicad and Michelle Hill, as our runners up (it was a tie), and winning a Maybelline Lip Gloss and a cellphone purse each!

P.S. I once said that a runner up from the males will also be picked out, but it turns out that only two males entered the contest, and one of them didn’t make it to the top ten, while the other made it to grand prize, so I’m just giving away the same prize for the two female runners up.
