At 37 weeks and full-term, signs of an impending birth are now quite forthcoming. Braxton-Hicks contractions while generally painless, are more frequent now. Menstrual cramp-like pain in the lower back and abdomen occur sporadically, although it is relieved when I change positions, or when I lie or sit down. Juliana has obviously started to descend down, and each day, I could feel her almost like “poking” through my *bleep*. Haha.

Matching booties and mittens 🙂

By this time, packing the bags for the Big day should have already been over with, as the last few weeks can get quite hectic. We actually started washing baby clothes and stuff as early as the 34th week, then sterilized feeding bottles and packed all the things we needed to bring to the hospital by the 36th week.

Here are the things I’ve packed in our bags so far:
  • In daddy and mommy’s backpack:
– 2 sets of shirts and shorts for the husband
– a pair of socks for the husband
– hankerchief for the husband
– blanket
– 2 sets of loose-fitting V-neck/ button down dresses (includes going home dress)
– 3 undies (the looser, the better)

– 3 maternity bras

– a pack of maternity pads

– cotton balls
– alcohol
– shaver
– 2 rolls of tissue paper
– toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, deodorant)
– hair ties/scrunchies and headband
– maintenance meds for daddy plus some emergency meds (paracetamol, Diatabs, pain reliever, etc.)
– bathrobe
– mineral water
– food (cookies, crackers, snacks, instant noodles, gum, candies, coffee)

There used to be a huge Mr. Chips and Piknik here.
Ze husband ate it already. Hehe.

– disposable breast pads (recommended by moms: Pigeon)
– cellphone chargers
– digicam and charger
– bath towel
– face towel
– book to read (just in case labor takes too long)
– money (withdraw in advance!)
– DOCUMENTS NEEDED FOR HOSPITALIZATION:
   > Marriage certificate
   > Philhealth Member Data Record (MDR)
   > 2 copies of filled out Philhealth Claim Form 1 (one for the baby, one for the mommy)
   > 2 copies of Philhealth Claim Form 2 (one for the OB and one for the pedia)
   > Certificate of Philhealth contributions from employer
   > Photocopy of 2 valid IDs
   > Admission letter from the OB-GYN
   > SSS-approved SSS maternity notification form with ultrasound report (this is not really something    you’re required to bring yet to the hospital, but I just like putting it in the same folder as the other maternity docs, anyway)
   > Photocopy of all the original documents stated above

Always bring your forms! You never know when labor may start:)
  • In baby’s diaper bag:
– 2 sterilized feeding bottles
– 4 lampins/ nappy cloth
– 2 bonnets
– 6 sets of mittens
– 3 booties/ socks

– jumpsuit/ going home outfit
– 2 receiving blankets
– nappy clips/ pins
– 9 NB diapers (recommended by moms: Prokids or Huggies)
– 3 PJs
– 3 tie-side shirts with sleeves
– baby rocker/ bouncer (if you have an infant car seat, much better)
– baby book (for finger/ footprinting at the hospital; yet to be bought, hehe)
– baby wipes
– baby carrier
– small Petroleum Jelly

Baby carrier
  • Some mommies also recommend bringing:
– breast pump
– infant formula of choice

  1. Wow! super ready na! tama ang choice of diaper. yun din diaper ni mj dati eh. prokids then nung malaki na huggies.Goodluck! paalam mo sa amin agad ha para maka punta.

  2. Talaga palang dami gumagamit nun, hehe. Natatandaan ko din parang Prokids si Tong San dati. Prokids muna binili ko, mas okay daw yun for NB eh. Yeps text ako agad 🙂

  3. Wow nesting hehe! Butchie try to read reviews bout baby carrier. Sabi kasi ng pedia ko at ilang daddies masAkit daw sa baby un and can cause daw back pains. Ganun din daw pag carry mo sya patayo or paupo na dipa sya ready umupo, siguro ung mga 2-4 months pa lang. Hindi ko sya naresearch how true, sinunod ko lang hehe! Ingat! Have a safe, normal delivery and healthy baby =>

  4. Ay really? I haven't read anything about that. We're not planning to use the baby carrier naman regularly; on a just-in-case basis lang lalo sa bahay din lang naman yung baby. We'd probably make use of the infant rocker/bouncer na lang when going home from the hospital. Thank you and God bless!
